I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting on the perfect time to pull out my blazers that have been hanging in the closet. I remember slowly erasing the month of May from the dry erase calendar in my room and feeling like damn, June is officially here. The thought of June usually indicates the full swing of birthdays for my love ones’ however, this year it hit different. This year would have me looking directly in the face of a milestone. Here I was thinking I would have it all “figured out,” by 40!

Reality is still settling in..

It’s crazy to think that less than a year ago my first reason to breath walked across the stage to accept her High School Diploma. The build up to that moment was less dramatic than I thought it would be and I’m sure it had everything to do with how Kahlia navigated the morning of #graduation.

Slow deep breaths is all I could tell myself this morning as I opened eyes and thought about the families impacted by this week horrific act that took place in Uvalde, Texas. On May 24, 2022 twenty-one individuals started their day filled with hope, opportunities and a willingness to live until it was ripped from them by someone with opposite characteristics.

First, let’s go ahead and start here…..It feels like I’ve been preparing myself since Aug 2021 however, I still feel unprepared for this next chapter of parenthood. #CollegeParent I still can’t believe how swiftly these past 9 months have flown by however, it’s the same feeling I had laying in the hospital bed in labor and delivery as I heard Dr. Tolbert say, “It’s almost over one more push.”
