Seems like it’s been forever since I took time to sit at my desk and pour into the pages of my blog from a up close and personal view. What can I say? Life has been showing up more aggressively than I imagined however, with the same breath that I uttered those words I know that God has me covered. Often times I remind myself that He sits hight and looks low therefore He knows the true desires of my heart. Now that we’ve level set let me bring you up to speed with what’s been going on……
Lately, I’ve found myself being invited to speak at some incredible events, sharing one of my greatest passions—fashion. While speaking engagements are not entirely new to me, having previously spoken at Validation Through Style, I still feel a thrill of excitement each time I’m asked to join an event. Meeting the audience, connecting with them, and sharing my love for style never gets old. More importantly it goes beyond wardrobe I feel I’ve been given the gift of encouraging others through unfiltered conversations. It’s an honor to be able to merge my expertise with inspiring others to embrace their unique fashion sense.
Wait, before I go any further let me tell you about this exciting upcoming event, Her Essence 2024 Conference. I’m particularly thrilled to be speaking on a topic very close to my heart: Unleashing Your True Style Potential. In this session, I’ll be diving deep into the world of body positivity and exploring how to dress each body type. It’s imperative to encourage people to see the beauty in themselves and express it through fashion, which is something I strongly believe in.
Taking up space within the fashion community requires hard work. It’s not just about the clothes but about continually evolving, understanding the needs of those you serve, and staying ahead of trends. It's also about building lasting connections, listening to what people want, and helping them find confidence in their personal style. As an Image Consultant, I want to share a few tips on how to be confident when it comes to public speaking, which is such a key aspect of presenting yourself:
Practice Makes Perfect: Rehearse your speech or presentation as much as possible. The more familiar you are with your material, the more confident you’ll feel delivering it.
Own Your Space: Your posture and body language can make a huge difference. Stand tall, make eye contact, and take slow, deep breaths to exude confidence.
Focus on Connection, Not Perfection: Don’t worry too much about being flawless. Instead, focus on connecting with your audience. The more engaged they feel, the more comfortable you’ll become.
In this exciting journey of blending fashion and public speaking, I’ve come to realize that both require confidence, authenticity, and a deep connection with the audience.
